Tally Counter

Most biologists work with primary or long term cell cultures at one point or the other. One of the most common inconveniences we all come across a little too often, is a broken or lost tally counter just when they need to count the cells before seeding.

This feature will have a regular counter with ‘+’ and ‘Reset’ buttons. However the unique feature of this counter will be that it is adept to suit the needs of a cell biologist. Instead of a regular counter, this feature will enable the user to choose from a range of virtual cell counting chambers used in the laboratories like Neubauer’s chamber and other commercial cell counting chambers. Upon selection, the phone screen turns into a virtual representation of the selected chamber with the same grid-like format. We can tap on the same quarter of the virtual chamber to count the number of cells in that quarter as we look at the same quarter of the physical chamber under the microscope. Each quarter can save the number of cells counted on it and at the end the counter will calculate and give us the actual number of cells present. It will also calculate the volume needed to seed a required number of cells.
